Virginia Bluebells Mertensia virginica Longwood Gardens in Philadelphia

Virginia Bluebells (Mertensia virginica)

We found this native plant in our walk into the woods of Longwood Gardens, a beautiful conservatory of plants located in Philadelphia. The Virginia Bluebells are native plants of North America, found in the woods, rivers floodplains, and low forests. They do well in full shade and well-draining, moist and neutral soil.

If you want to complement your garden with this beauty, plant the bluebells in the spring or fall, always in very moist soil and partial to full shade. They like a bit of morning sun.

I love when I go to this field trips and observed the different forms of life surround us. Biodiversity of plants, shapes and color allows us to have a healthy environment, fresh air and ecological interactions.
